Malacañang said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants the long-delayed Anti-Political Dynasty Bill passed during his term, following the House of Representatives’ approval of its version of the measure.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said the President remains committed to fulfilling the constitutional mandate to prohibit political dynasties as defined by law.
The House and Senate versions of the bill both seek to bar relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity from holding elective positions simultaneously in the same locality.
The measure is among the priority bills identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) and is being pushed as part of governance reforms to strengthen public trust.
Malacañang dismissed speculation that Marcos would veto the bill, saying he has repeatedly expressed support for its passage within his administration.
