The Manila City government relaunched the Luneta Urban Garden in Rizal Park on June 4 to promote food security through urban farming and modern agricultural technology.
Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso led the event and participated in the harvesting of Japanese musk melon grown at the site.
The initiative is a partnership among the city government, the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry, DENSO Philippines Corporation, and the National Parks Development Committee.
It showcases the use of greenhouse systems and smart agriculture technology to demonstrate that food can be produced in urban areas.
Officials said the project aims to strengthen food security while promoting innovative farming practices in the city.
