COCO MAMA INCREASES SEEDLING COMMITMENT TO HELP FARMERS

Coco Mama has pledged to plant one million coconut trees over the next five years to support more than 10,000 local farmers and help revitalize the coconut industry.

The initiative, launched with HOPE: Business for Good, will distribute 100 high-quality seedlings to each farmer to replace old, unproductive trees.

Century Pacific Food Inc. said it will buy the harvest from the new trees to provide farmers with a sustainable source of income, while farmers will also receive training on intercropping.

The company said future planting efforts will focus on Region 12, or Soccsksargen, one of the country’s major coconut-producing areas.

The program is expected to complement the Philippine Coconut Authority’s goal of planting 100 million coconut trees by 2028 and boosting domestic coconut production.
