TORRE’S DRIVER LOSES LICENSE AS LTO CITES REPEATED VIOLATIONS

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) revoked the driver’s license of the person operating an SUV marked as a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) patrol vehicle, citing repeated traffic violations and unauthorized vehicle markings.

LTO Secretary Markus Lacanilao declared the driver unfit to operate a motor vehicle and ordered the removal of the unauthorized MMDA markings, siren, and blinkers, while the vehicle remains impounded.

The vehicle was identified as belonging to MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III, who was previously fined P14,000 for traffic violations.

Torre admitted having his personal armored vehicle customized as an official MMDA vehicle, using the EDSA busway while on duty and a fake plate copied from an MMDA truck.

Lacanilao said Torre will face administrative sanctions and stressed that government officials must follow traffic laws regardless of their rank or position.
