President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed support for key initiatives to strengthen the Philippines’ space science and technology capabilities during the 9th Philippine Space Council meeting in Malacañang, the Palace said.
The council reviewed ongoing programs, including satellite projects, space infrastructure development, and the use of space-based data for government services.
It approved major measures such as the MULA Constellation Program, a Philippine Sovereign Geostationary Telecommunications Satellite Program, and a national orbital debris response protocol.
The Philippine Space Agency also reported progress on upcoming satellite launches, sounding rocket tests, and efforts to improve coordination and safety in space operations.
The meeting likewise highlighted expanded cooperation with Japan, including joint satellite missions, research, education programs, and broader partnerships under a comprehensive strategic framework.
