President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said floodwaters in Metro Manila are now receding faster, with some areas clearing in less than a day despite heavy rains from the southwest monsoon.
He credited dredging, improved drainage systems, and the operation of pumping stations for helping reduce flooding.
Marcos said 201 millimeters of rain fell in five hours on Monday, causing widespread flooding across the capital.
The monsoon has affected around 1.7 million families and caused 27 deaths and 17 injuries.
He vowed to continue flood-control efforts, including exploring underground water-impounding facilities in Metro Manila.
