President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is addressing long-standing gaps in the country’s flood control system through new and improved infrastructure projects, Malacañang said Thursday.
Palace official Claire Castro said investigations uncovered alleged ghost flood control projects under both current and previous administrations.
The government is now identifying additional measures, including upgrading undersized culverts to improve drainage and speed up floodwater recession.
Initial flood control measures in Metro Manila have already shown positive results, with water receding faster in some areas.
Castro also urged the public to help prevent flooding by keeping the environment clean.
