Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday denied any intention of overthrowing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. or taking his position, saying she is bound by her oath to uphold the Constitution.
Speaking during Independence Day rites in Davao City, Duterte said she does not support any extra-constitutional means to remove the current administration.
She described herself as the constitutional successor and insisted she respects the country’s democratic processes.
Duterte also criticized Marcos’ leadership and said corruption deprives people of opportunities, dignity, and freedom.
Her remarks came as she faces an impeachment case, with a pre-trial conference set for June 18 and the trial scheduled to begin in July.
