Sen. Loren Legarda called for unity in advancing education reforms and urged leaders to set aside political differences in favor of students’ welfare during the Commission on Higher Education’s 32nd anniversary celebration.
She stressed that education laws must be backed by adequate funding to avoid creating false expectations among learners and institutions.
Legarda cited past efforts to fund free college education and noted that allocations for the program have often fallen short due to outdated enrollment data.
She urged the government to ensure the full release of funds and use accurate projections when preparing education budgets.
The senator also reaffirmed her support for evidence-based reforms and investments aimed at improving access to quality tertiary education.
