GO PUSHES PHILIPPINE BETS TO BOOST ASIAN GAMES MEDAL HAUL

Sen. Bong Go urged Philippine athletes competing in the 20th Asian Games and 5th Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, to aim for twice the country’s previous medal haul.

He cited the Philippines’ four-gold, two-silver, and 12-bronze medal finish at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.

Go also highlighted the historic men’s basketball gold medal in Hangzhou as proof that Filipino athletes can succeed across different sports.

He backed Senate Bill 1743, which seeks to strengthen benefits and incentives for national and para-athletes and their coaches.

The Asian Games will run from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4, followed by the Asian Para Games from Oct. 18 to 24, with Go reminding athletes that the entire nation is behind them.
