BATO’S ESCAPE FACES POSSIBLE OBSTRUCTION CHARGES

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Office of the Ombudsman are investigating a possible obstruction of justice complaint over Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s escape from the Senate.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag said agents involved in the incident have submitted affidavits that could be used as evidence if charges are filed.

The investigation will also consider independent witnesses, media reports, CCTV footage, and videos of the incident.

The probe stems from the May 13 shooting incident at the Senate, where NBI agents were searching for dela Rosa amid an impending arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.

The Ombudsman will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file charges in court.
