Sen. Loren Legarda’s spokesman, lawyer Tony La Viña, said there is no criminal basis for the cases being raised against the senator and her son, Batangas Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste.
La Viña criticized the alleged use of the law as a political weapon, saying he decided to handle the cases on principle.
He described the allegations as artificial and said there was not even a hint of a case against the two lawmakers.
The plunder and graft complaint against Legarda and Leviste remains under preliminary investigation before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The case is linked to Solar Para sa Bayan and Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings Inc., which Leviste owned while he was still a private citizen.
