Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said new witnesses have approached the Office of the Ombudsman to provide details on alleged deliveries of “boxes of money” linked to anomalous infrastructure projects in Taguig.
He said the witnesses’ accounts, including one involving millions of pesos, are being evaluated as part of the Ombudsman’s fact-finding investigation.
The probe is based on at least 45 case studies and official documents submitted by Lacson’s team alleging systemic irregularities in Taguig’s flood control projects.
Lacson said he expects the Ombudsman to file charges against those involved before the end of the year if the investigation continues at its current pace.
He also revealed that unauthorized reclamation along Taguig’s portion of Laguna de Bay has reached 170 hectares, double his initial estimate, with Lacson saying the government should confiscate the property while pursuing legal action.
