Senators Erwin Tulfo and Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Thursday denied allegations raised in a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing that they received suitcases of money.
Tulfo called the accusations “false,” pointing to inconsistencies in the testimony and affidavit of witness Bernard Gumban, including conflicting claims on the number of suitcases and amounts involved.
He also said the allegations were part of a “planned propaganda” campaign aimed at damaging his reputation and questioned the conduct of the hearing.
Sotto likewise dismissed the claims as untrue, noting that he was not a senator during the period cited in the allegations.
He urged the public not to believe what he described as a “bogus investigation in aid of destabilisation.”
