Sen. Erwin Tulfo revealed that some of his colleagues tried to convince him not to sign the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s partial report on alleged anomalies in flood control projects, saying they appealed to camaraderie among lawmakers.
Tulfo said he chose to sign the report as vice chair of the committee, stressing that he could not ignore the issues raised during the investigation.
However, he clarified that he signed the report with amendments because he was dissatisfied with certain aspects, including the omission of names mentioned during the hearings, particularly that of Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The report failed to advance to plenary deliberations after securing only seven signatures, short of the nine required.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson later praised Tulfo for speaking out, saying his remarks confirmed suspicions about why the committee report had stalled.
