DPWH STRENGTHENS OPLAN KONTRA BAHA DRIVE

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is strengthening its Oplan Kontra Baha program following recent floods, under orders from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The agency plans long-term flood control projects in several areas, including Metro Manila, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Tarlac, Camarines Sur, Visayas and Mindanao.

These include cleaning and dredging waterways and building and maintaining pumping stations.

In Baliwag, Bulacan, DPWH is also repairing the drainage system along Doña Remedios Trinidad Road to reduce flooding during heavy rains.

Officials said the efforts aim to protect residents, motorists and commuters from recurring floods.
