President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Energy (DOE) to restore the country’s power supply to normal levels as soon as possible following recent disruptions.
The order came after a meeting where energy officials discussed grid conditions in Luzon and the Visayas, as well as issues in Catanduanes and ongoing infrastructure projects.
Marcos also instructed the DOE to accelerate the construction of new power plants, expand transmission networks, and resolve delays in submarine cable and transmission line projects.
He further ordered a review of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ projects and emphasized swift action to prevent further power interruptions.
The DOE reported that the country has about 46 days’ worth of fuel reserves as of May 29, 2026.
