PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. ordered police units in Metro Manila and other areas to remain on alert and maintain visibility for the remaining two days of the transport strike.
He reported no significant incidents on the first day of the protest led by Manibela and Piston, noting that commuters adjusted to limited transport operations.
Police presence was maintained in major transport corridors, terminals, and chokepoints, with assistance desks activated to help commuters.
Nartatez commended personnel on the ground and stressed continued readiness for possible disruptions.
He also urged transport groups to keep their protest peaceful and orderly.
