The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the FDM Neuroscience and Vision Care Research and Training Institute have launched a program to assess and improve the vision health of national athletes.
About 94 athletes from the national pool underwent functional eye assessments at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex as part of the initiative.
Experts noted common issues such as eye irritation, dry eyes, and early signs of conditions caused by prolonged exposure to the sun and dust.
Some athletes were also found to have red-green color vision deficiency and will undergo free rehabilitation.
The program aims to enhance not only visual clarity but also eye-hand coordination and overall brain processing to improve athletic performance.
