MANIBELA STRIKE ENTERS DAY 2 AS GROUP WEIGHS EXTENSION

The Manibela transport strike entered its second day as the group considered extending the protest until Friday, depending on conditions, including possible class suspensions.

Demonstrations continued across Metro Manila, with participants calling for government action on rising fuel prices and a P2 increase in the minimum jeepney fare.

The group also urged the government to remove fuel taxes and pressed the LTFRB to approve the proposed fare hike to help drivers cope with higher operating costs.

Some commuters experienced transportation difficulties early in the day due to fewer operating jeepneys.

Despite the protest, traffic and public transport operations along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City returned to normal later in the morning under the supervision of local traffic personnel.
