The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has issued subpoenas to Ateneo de Manila University coaches and players who were present during the June 8 drowning incident that claimed the lives of student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.
Authorities said the investigation includes examining possible violations of the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018. The CIDG has also requested an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order against coach Tab Baldwin to monitor any attempt to leave the country.
Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Investigation is conducting a separate probe focused on possible criminal negligence in the deaths.
The NBI said it will assess all angles of the case, including whether negligence contributed to the tragedy despite initial findings of no foul play.
