MPBL Party-list has joined calls for a thorough and transparent investigation into the deaths of Ateneo basketball players Rene Clert Baterbonia and Divine Adili during a team-building activity in Aurora.
Led by its top nominee, Kenneth Duremdes, the group urged authorities to examine safety protocols, rescue efforts, and possible lapses that may have contributed to the tragedy.
The party-list said accountability must be established if negligence is found and stressed the need to protect student-athletes.
It also called on government agencies and sports organizations to review guidelines governing team-building activities, training camps, and off-campus events.
Additionally, the group urged Ateneo and other concerned institutions to provide full support to the families of the two student-athletes.
