Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said the Senate may formalize a “no-work, no-pay” rule for members who incur unauthorized absences.
He cited Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s prolonged absence, noting that dela Rosa has voluntarily stopped receiving his salary and allowances.
Lacson said the Senate should instead officially suspend or stop the pay of members with unauthorized absences.
The move, however, may be delayed by the Senate’s tight schedule due to the 2027 national budget and the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Lacson also said Senate President Pro Tempore Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has been unable to schedule an ethics hearing on the matter.
