Former Senator Bong Revilla filed a counter-affidavit with the Department of Justice (DOJ) on December 10 to respond to graft allegations involving a supposedly non-existent flood control project in Bulacan.
Revilla, who chaired the Senate public works committee, also submitted evidence aiming to prove that the allegations and complaints against him are false, his lawyer said.
The DOJ complaint names Revilla and former lawmaker Zaldy Co as respondents in an investigation linked to SYMS constructions.
Revilla has consistently denied any wrongdoing and hopes the DOJ will evaluate the evidence fairly and dismiss the case.
This marks the second major corruption case involving Revilla, who was previously acquitted in 2021 of multiple graft, plunder, and malversation charges related to the Janet Napoles scam.
