Sen. Joel Villanueva said he would attend any special session of Congress that may be called by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., stressing that lawmakers must prioritize public service over political divisions.
His statement comes amid speculation about whether he would join the bloc led by Sherwin Gatchalian in the ongoing Senate leadership dispute.
Villanueva said the leadership conflict has affected both the institution and Senate employees, urging fellow senators to focus on their constitutional duties and the welfare of Filipinos.
If a special session is convened, he said he would push for funding for earthquake-hit communities in Mindanao, act on pending legislation, and address delayed confirmations of military promotions.
The Senate leadership row remains unresolved after the chamber adjourned on June 6, with competing claims over the Senate presidency continuing to divide lawmakers.
