The Department of Social Welfare and Development clarified that public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers do not need a Commission on Elections certification to receive cash relief assistance.
It said only a valid driver’s license is required to access the aid, which is intended to be distributed quickly and without additional documentary requirements.
The agency issued the clarification after reports linked the program to other assistance schemes requiring Comelec certification.
The P5,000 cash aid under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations is reserved for qualified PUV drivers affected by rising fuel prices.
Beneficiaries are identified through lists submitted by local government units and transport agencies.
