The Office of the Ombudsman is set to file five to six additional charges against former House Speaker and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez within the next two weeks over the flood control scandal, according to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla.
Remulla said the cases are part of a series of complaints based on findings from the Anti-Money Laundering Council and are still under preliminary investigation.
He also confirmed that Romualdez is covered by a Court of Appeals freeze order involving multiple bank accounts and insurance policies.
The Ombudsman earlier announced plans to file plunder cases against Romualdez and former Senate President Francis Escudero, which may be filed in May and involve an alleged conspiracy linked to the national budget.
Despite a request for inhibition from Romualdez, Remulla said he would continue handling the case, stressing his duty to pursue corruption charges and uphold accountability.
