National Unity Party (NUP) Chairman Deputy Speaker Ronaldo “Ronnie” Puno has backed Rep. Franz Pumaren’s call for a House inquiry into the alleged anomalous ₱1.8-billion procurement of Mobile Primary Care Facilities (MPCF) by the Department of Health.
The investigation would examine DOH’s procurement, oversight, and implementation of the MPCF program amid complaints filed with the Ombudsman against top officials, including Secretary Teodoro Herbosa.
Puno stressed that Congress must exercise legislative oversight whenever serious questions arise over public funds.
The NUP said it will work with House committees to ensure the matter receives proper attention and that transparency is upheld.
The party also highlighted the importance of reforms where gaps in existing procurement laws are identified, emphasizing accountability in programs delivering essential services nationwide.
