The Department of Health (DOH) reported 72,735 influenza-like illness (ILI) cases from Jan. 4 to Aug. 1, down 23 percent from the same period last year.
Despite the decline, recent cases rose by 1 percent, with 4,466 reported from July 5 to 18.
The country also recorded 38 deaths, 16 percent lower than last year’s 45 fatalities.
Northern Mindanao had the most cases with 12,895, followed by Calabarzon and Davao Region.
Health experts urged the public to get flu vaccines, which can help prevent severe illness and hospitalization.
