The Marikina City government has opened a three-story Heritage Building in Barangay San Roque to preserve and promote the city’s broader cultural identity beyond its well-known shoe industry.
The facility, located beside the Marikina Shoe Museum, aims to highlight the city’s history and the stories of local families and ancestral roots.
Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro said the building showcases exhibits on at least 50 Marikina clans, with plans to expand the display over time.
She emphasized that the initiative seeks to present Marikina as a city shaped not only by shoemaking but also by its people’s diverse histories and experiences.
Officials said the heritage space is open to both residents and visitors as part of efforts to strengthen cultural preservation and community pride.
