President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will host German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for a state visit to the Philippines from June 15 to 17, the first by a German head of state in more than 60 years.
The two leaders are expected to discuss defense, maritime security, trade and investment, climate action, renewable energy, and people-to-people exchanges.
They will also exchange views on regional and global developments, including the Philippines’ chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Malacañang described the visit as a milestone in the long-standing partnership between the Philippines and Germany, which established diplomatic relations in 1954.
Germany remains the Philippines’ largest trading and investment partner within the European Union and continues to expand cooperation with the country in key economic and development sectors.
