Australia reaffirmed its commitment as a trusted friend and strategic partner of the Philippines as both countries marked 80 years of diplomatic relations.
The Australian Embassy said cooperation continues to grow in areas such as defense, trade, education, development, and people-to-people ties.
The milestone was commemorated with a ceremony at the Quezon Memorial Shrine, along with the launch of a historical marker recognizing Australia’s support during World War II.
The marker highlights Australia’s role in hosting President Manuel L. Quezon and his government in 1942 during the war.
Officials from both countries said the long-standing partnership remains strong and continues to deepen amid regional challenges.
