President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to multilateralism, regional cooperation, and a rules-based international order during a gathering with the diplomatic corps.
He highlighted the country’s efforts as ASEAN chair, including the adoption of a maritime cooperation declaration and discussions on energy, food security, and regional safety.
Marcos said ASEAN remains united despite global uncertainties and is pursuing deeper integration and cooperation.
He also announced that the Philippines will host the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia on July 24.
The President likewise thanked foreign partners for supporting the country’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
