The Marcos administration said it needs about P155 billion to fund the UPLIFT interventions, a program aimed at mitigating the impact of the Middle East conflict on oil prices, supply chains, and basic goods.
Budget officials clarified that the amount is still preliminary and may change as agencies finalize funding needs and adjust existing budgets through reprioritization rather than new spending.
The government also plans to launch a UPLIFT website to improve transparency and allow the public to track the use of funds and related programs.
UPLIFT, or Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport, was created under a state of national energy emergency through Executive Order No. 110.
Alongside the funding plan, President Marcos rolled out aid programs in Leyte, including rice distribution, scholarships, and an irrigation project for farmers.
