A Department of Health undersecretary is facing a graft complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman over an alleged conflict of interest involving infrastructure projects reportedly awarded to his brother’s construction firm.
The complainants said EGB Construction secured about P140.99 million worth of health facility projects, including hospitals in Oriental Mindoro and Isabela, during his term.
They alleged that the official, who heads the Health Facilities Enhancement Program, had authority over project approval and budgeting, creating a potential conflict of interest.
The group also cited Republic Act 3019, claiming manifest partiality and urging the official’s preventive suspension while the case is under investigation.
The DOH official has yet to respond to the allegations.
