MARCOS CABINET APPROVES PROPOSED 2027 NATIONAL EXPENDITURE PROGRAM

The Cabinet on Friday approved the proposed 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) presented by the Department of Budget and Management during a meeting chaired by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Malacañang Palace.

The Presidential Communications Office said details of the spending plan, including its total amount, will be released once the President formally submits the budget proposal to Congress.

The NEP will serve as the basis for lawmakers in crafting the General Appropriations Bill, which will become the General Appropriations Act upon the President’s approval.

Under National Budget Memorandum No. 158, the Marcos administration is proposing a ₱7.2-trillion national budget for 2027, equivalent to 21.7 percent of the country’s gross domestic product.

The proposed allocation is 6 percent, or ₱407 billion, higher than the ₱6.793-trillion budget approved for 2026.
