Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong urged jeepney and taxi drivers to be considerate of passengers, especially students who struggle with additional or higher transport fares.
His statement came after complaints that some taxi drivers were charging an extra P20 on top of the metered rate, while some jeepney drivers allegedly failed to give proper change to students.
Magalong acknowledged the challenges faced by drivers amid rising fuel costs but stressed that commuters should not be overburdened, particularly those who cannot afford added charges.
The LTFRB-Cordillera earlier said the proposed P20 minimum jeepney fare would be voluntary, with fare adjustments still subject to central approval.
Magalong also encouraged the public to report overcharging incidents while noting that the city continues to support transport subsidies and assistance programs for drivers.
