Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered stricter enforcement of the Sanitation Code, warning that businesses with sanitation violations could face closure.
The city government will conduct more frequent unannounced inspections, particularly of food establishments, to ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards.
The move follows a viral incident involving a rodent found in a restaurant’s soup, which prompted the closure of the establishment.
Inspectors will check sanitation permits, food preparation areas, restrooms, waste disposal, and compliance with health regulations.
Magalong urged business owners to immediately address violations or risk losing their operating permits.
