The House prosecution panel in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial is considering filing a motion to inhibit senator-judges they believe are biased, as well as motions to subpoena key records.
This follows moves by Duterte-allied senators to dismiss the impeachment before formal proceedings even began.
However, since the Senate impeachment court has yet to start official hearings, the prosecution cannot yet file motions or make formal motions.
The House also sought clarification on the Senate’s confusing orders and deferred transmitting the impeachment articles until their concerns are addressed.
With Congress adjourning sine die on June 11, the future of the impeachment case now hinges on actions in the upcoming 20th Congress convening on July 28.
