SARA DUTERTE CAMP MOVES TO DISMISS GRAVE THREAT COMPLAINT

Vice President Sara Duterte’s legal team has asked a Quezon City court to dismiss three counts of grave threats filed against her, citing lack of jurisdiction.

Lawyer Paul Lim confirmed that a motion to quash the charges had been filed but declined to give further details because the case is sub judice.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed it was ordered to respond to the motion but has yet to receive a copy.

The charges stem from Duterte’s November 2024 statement that she had hired a gunman to kill President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeded.

The DOJ earlier dismissed a separate inciting to sedition charge against Duterte for lack of sufficient evidence.
