Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday challenged Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. to name the government officials he accused of defending China’s position on the West Philippine Sea.
Duterte said broad accusations without identifying the individuals could unfairly cast suspicion on other officials, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
She stressed that public officials making serious allegations should provide specific names to avoid confusion and speculation.
Duterte made the statement in response to Teodoro’s call for officials defending China’s position to resign.
She said the public deserves clarity on who exactly is being accused of siding with China on the maritime dispute.
