PROSECUTION AGREES TO REVISED TIMELINE IN SARA DUTERTE TRIAL

The prosecution team in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial supports revising the hearing schedule to speed up the proceedings.

Manila Rep. Joel Chua said prosecutors aim to finish presenting their evidence by September without compromising the case.

The Senate majority has proposed moving hearings to the afternoon, from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or longer if needed.

Prosecutors may also reduce their list of witnesses and shorten their presentations to avoid further delays.

The trial is currently on its 16th day and is focused on allegations that Duterte misused P612.5 million in confidential funds.
