The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and GCash have partnered to allow overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to pay their membership dues through the app’s Bills Pay feature, with the agreement formalized via a memorandum signed by both parties.
Launched amid the Middle East conflict, the initiative aims to modernize OWWA services and improve access to essential benefits such as emergency repatriation, healthcare, legal assistance, and livelihood programs.
Since April 16, OFWs can now conveniently process payments through GCash, with transaction fees waived for three months until July 16.
The app also allows users to access other financial services like remittances, savings, credit, insurance, and investments to better manage their finances. Officials said the partnership is part of broader efforts to strengthen digital government services and improve support systems for migrant workers.
They added that the integration marks the beginning of long-term cooperation to ensure OFWs remain connected, protected, and financially included.
