Pasig City is preparing to replicate a prototype housing project that converts recycled plastic waste into modular temporary homes for informal settler families (ISFs).
The initiative, developed with the Nordic Council of Ministers and Evergreen Labs Philippines, uses durable plastic boards produced through ReForm Plastic Technology as part of a circular economy approach.
Each 18-square-meter unit can reportedly be assembled in about two weeks and includes basic living spaces such as a kitchen, dining area, sleeping quarters, and toilet.
Mayor Vico Sotto said the project offers a sustainable solution for temporary housing amid limited land and a growing urban population, especially during infrastructure upgrades.
The project was presented during a site visit in Pasig Bliss Village III, attended by local officials and representatives from Nordic embassies.
