The Pasig City government has launched a financial education program through a partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the BDO Foundation to help residents improve money management and protect themselves from scams and fraud.
Formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed on June 16, the initiative will benefit various sectors, including market vendors, transport workers, students, teachers, senior citizens, solo parents, and micro-entrepreneurs.
Mayor Vico Sotto said improving financial literacy requires a collective effort, as better money management can help address many everyday financial challenges.
Under the program, the BSP and BDO Foundation will train local financial education advocates, provide technical support, and conduct financial literacy sessions for beneficiaries.
The initiative forms part of the BSP’s continuing efforts to promote financial education through partnerships with local governments and the private sector to build financially empowered communities.
