The US Department of Justice declined to comment on the reported extradition request for detained pastor Apollo Quiboloy, citing policy not to discuss such matters until a defendant is in the US.
Quiboloy faces multiple charges in a US federal court, including sex trafficking and conspiracy, related to alleged abuses within his Kingdom of Jesus Christ group. |
While the Philippine ambassador confirmed the extradition request has been sent to the Philippine DOJ, the latter has yet to receive it.
Quiboloy’s legal team expressed hope that the Philippine courts would handle his cases first before any extradition proceedings.
Meanwhile, lawmakers like Rep. Perci Cendaña have urged swift government action, warning that Quiboloy’s influence risks witness intimidation and justice delayed.
