Sen. Risa Hontiveros said she has “no reason to be scared” after Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy’s lawyer announced plans to file libel and cyber libel charges against her and two other lawmakers.
Hontiveros urged Quiboloy to face the allegations against him, noting that he is wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and faces accusations involving human trafficking, sexual abuse, and child abuse.
She also reaffirmed her commitment to protecting Quiboloy’s alleged victims and those who have spoken out against him.
Hontiveros previously led a Senate investigation into allegations of human trafficking, sexual abuse of minors, forced labor, and other rights violations linked to Quiboloy.
Quiboloy is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail while facing qualified human trafficking charges in Pasig and sexual abuse and maltreatment cases in Quezon City, as the US seeks his extradition.
