US FORMALLY SEEKS QUIBOLOY’S EXTRADITION FROM PHILIPPINES

The United States has formally requested the Philippines to extradite Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo Quiboloy to face charges including sex trafficking and fraud.

The request was sent to the Department of Justice through the Department of Foreign Affairs in July, although the DOJ said it had not officially received the document as of Thursday.

Quiboloy’s lawyers said the extradition would be difficult because he is currently facing criminal cases before Philippine courts.

The US charges stem from allegations that Quiboloy and the KOJC recruited members to the US through fraudulent visas and forced them to solicit donations, while female members were allegedly subjected to sexual abuse.

Sen. Risa Hontiveros welcomed the US request and urged the DOJ to act on it.
