U.S. President Donald Trump said he is considering “winding down” military operations against Iran, even as the United States temporarily lifted sanctions on Iranian oil to ease global supply pressures.
Despite this, the U.S. is sending three more amphibious assault ships and roughly 2,500 Marines to the Middle East amid ongoing airstrikes, missile, and drone attacks.
Iran has continued assaults on Israel and Saudi Arabia, targeting energy infrastructure, while Israel reported missile fire and Saudi Arabia intercepted over 20 drones.
Trump claimed U.S. objectives in the conflict are nearly met, though analysts note mixed signals given the military buildup and a requested $200 billion funding boost for the campaign.
Rising oil prices have pushed global markets down, prompting emergency measures such as the temporary lifting of sanctions on Iranian crude already loaded onto ships.
