ABS-CBN Corp. is set to receive up to P6 billion in fresh equity from new and long-time investors to support its efforts to return to profitability.
Philippine private investment firm I&C Holdings Corp. will invest P3.5 billion, while companies representing the Lopez family will provide the remaining P2.5 billion.
ABS-CBN said the funds will strengthen its balance sheet and support its turnaround efforts after years of financial losses since losing its legislative franchise.
The company’s net loss widened 63% to P813 million as of March, while revenue fell 21% to P3.33 billion.
Despite the weak start, ABS-CBN remains hopeful for a recovery, with BINI’s upcoming world tour expected to boost its business.
